First, I should say I thoroughly enjoyed the content of this course. Particularly, reading the materials expanded my knowledge of PLNs the most. The relationship between the professional and personal online presence is something that very much intrigues me, and I read things relating to that when writing some of my blog posts.

PLNs can be very useful for accelerated learning in any topic and it’s been fun exploring various “corners” to see how they operate relative to each other. That, and professional networking have been a primary interest for me. Seeing ways in which we can leverage our student communities into perhaps a future job opportunity.

Prior to this course I was mostly unfamiliar with the utility of professional networks in platforms not primarily made for them (ie. not LinkedIn), but even platforms you wouldn’t expect like Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok have their place in a professionals PLN.

Overall, I still view social media as a double edged sword that can be either a great asset or detriment to the modern person. The most important thing remains seeking those benefits while mitigating associated risks. Now that we’ve reached the end of the term, I’m sure we all feel a little more comfortable doing that.

Thank you!
